Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences has entered into an academic agreement with the University of Ilorin in Nigeria.
Together the two higher education institutions will collaborate on distance education and other programs; exchange internship opportunities for qualified students; conduct joint research and curriculum development; and organize seminars, academic interactive sessions, and other professional development activities.
“We are so pleased to partner with the University of Ilorin to extend enhanced academic programming and experiential learning opportunities to students of both institutions,” said ACPHS President, Toyin Tofade. “As ACPHS strives to be a global leader in preparing students for transformative health careers to solve problems that change the world, this new collaboration puts us on the right path.”
Established in 1975, the university is based in Ilorin, about 300 miles from Abuja, the Federal capital, which is strategically located at the geographical and cultural confluence of the North and South. They offer undergraduate, postgraduate, continuing education and distance learning to approximately 65,000 students.
ACPHS and the University of Ilorin find commonality in shared academic programming such as biomedical studies, biology, chemistry, laboratory science, microbiology, and pharmacy.
“We strive for collaborations that facilitate international educational exchange and the participation in joint educational ventures which provides opportunities to enhance each institution and promote cross-cultural understanding,” said University of Ilorin Vice-Chancellor President and Professor, Abdulwahab O. Egbewole, SAN. “This relationship moves us closer to that goal.”
